Ningxia offers a compact starting point for several very different landscapes. Use Yinchuan for the northern region, add Zhongwei for the desert and Yellow River, or travel south towards Guyuan and the Liupan Mountains. The right route depends on whether your priorities are walking, history, local food or wineries.
