Food / Chengdu food quarter walk
Private food walk
The Chengdu food quarter walk.
Four to five hours on foot through the three eating quarters Chengdu keeps coming back to — a park where the city takes its tea, an alley of hundred-year-old houses, and the food street ranked among the city's best. You will not need lunch afterwards.

Why this walk
The city is the menu.
Chengdu eats all day, in public, close to the ground — and the fastest way into that is to walk it with someone who knows which counter is worth the queue. This is a half-day loop through the quarters that hold the classics: the snacks, the street grills, the teahouse tables under the trees.
The walk opens at People's Park, where the city's afternoon is on display before any food arrives — tea if you want it, and the matchmaking corner worth a look in any case. From there the route runs through Kuanzhai Alley, rebuilt lanes of hundred-year-old houses that now hold the traditional kitchens, and finishes in Jinli, the old street at the foot of the Wuhou Shrine where the food stalls run shoulder to shoulder.
Come hungry and plan nothing else for the hours around it. Most people stop eating entirely somewhere in Jinli and only notice on the drive back.
The route
Three quarters, one afternoon.
One loop through the city on foot, hotel to hotel, built around three stops that could each fill a day.

- Stop 3Jinli Old Streetthe big food street — snacks stall to stall until you are done
Hour by hour
The half day.
Around four to five hours, door to door. Run it in the morning, roughly 9am to 1 or 2pm, or in the afternoon from 2pm to about 6 or 7 — it slots into almost any Chengdu day.

Half day
Park, lanes, food street
People's Park → Kuanzhai Alley → Jinli
Pickup at your hotel, then straight to People's Park to see how the city spends its day — teahouses, chess, and the matchmaking corner that has become a sight in its own right. Tea in the park is optional and worth the hour it takes.
Kuanzhai Alley follows: the wide lane and the narrow lane, traditional houses from around a century ago, and food quarters worked into both. The walk ends in Jinli, the old street that ranks among the top three sights in the city for many visitors — and its food street is the reason. Tastings are bought as you go, stall by stall, and the afternoon closes with the drive back to your hotel or wherever you would rather be dropped.
The order can shift and the walk combines well with an afternoon cooking session or a Sichuan opera evening — tell us what else the day should hold.
